This place is friggin great. They set it up for you to drive out to the tree fields, they give you a map to understand what kind of tree is in each sector. Great selection of very well cared for trees. Basicallly you can just throw a stick, and whatever it hits, you would be happy to have in your home. I saw solid agricultural practices, very healthy trees. You can tell these people take pride in what they grow.

The best tree farm I've been to in the last 15 years. Lots of selection and lots of tall trees, easy to navigate with the map and you can drive out to the trees so you don't have to drag it as far. My new favorite. We will be back!

We have gotten our tree here the last 5 years the Fri/Sat right after Thanksgiving. There has always been a great selection available. You get a map when you first drive in so you know where the different types of trees are. Very easy to navigate and the whole process is great. Staff is very helpful and friendly. I LOVE that they allow dogs, but would not recommend bringing a dog with long or curly hair. We brought ours last year for the first time and we picked 60+ burrs off of her. Looking forward to coming back in a few weeks!

Went here the Tuesday before Thanksgiving and they had so many trees to choose from! We went to another tree farm closer to home but it had opened on Saturday and all the nice trees had already been tagged so we decided to try this place out even though it was a bit of a drive from West Des Moines. Now we will go here every year it was wonderful! My kids got some fruit punch and a cookie. We cut down the tree and brought it over, they wrapped it then strapped it to the car for us. Very reasonably priced as well!

2020: We were on the hunt for a Christmas tree farm with a large selection of 7-8 foot trees so we could choose our special tree. The last week of November 2020, we went to several different tree farms in the area, but the selection was minimal and the trees small and/or already reserved. Finally decided to try Strautman Tree Farm and the selection was incredible. So many different types of trees to choose from and so many large ones to choose from. Plus they give you a cute wooden ornament for your tree to commemorate your trip! We will definitely be back in 2021 and in the future!
